This workshop is intended for experienced throwers, pottery enthusiasts, and avid learners!

If you are looking to hone your throwing skills, learn more about the ceramic process, and get more intimate experience with kilns this is a great option for you.

On Thursdays from October 15-November 19 (2026) we will conduct classes and demonstrations to help you create/cultivate/edit a body of work to be fired with Justin Lambert in Morrison, CO January 15-18, 2027. The unloading of that kiln will take place on January 23. Please keep your schedules open for all of those dates.

Schedule:

October-November Class: Thursdays 6-8:30 pm 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12, 11/19

December: Extra work time to fill your space - students will have access to SBS during December Open Studio hours.

December Private Lessons: Each student will be entitled to one private lesson with Matt, Gram or both (depending on availability). These lessons are designed to give you strategies to fill your space if you need to fill more space, editing if you have too much work, and 'critique/feedback'.

Glazing Day: On Thursday, 1/7, we will glaze/slip all of our pieces in preparating for the firing in the following week.

Kiln Loading: 

Friday 1/15/27 - THIS DAY IS 'MANDATORY' we can't guarantee that your work will get fired if you aren't there to put it in the kiln.

Kiln Firing: Friday 1/15/27 through Monday 1/18/27

- Each student will get to fire two 6-hour shifts

- Shifts are: 6pm-midnight, midnight-6am, 6am-noon, noon-6pm

- Please plan your work schedule accordingly

Unload: 1/23/27 - this is one of the best parts of the experience, please prepare to attend. Friends and family are welcome (limited parking - please prepare to carpool with one vehicle per student).

Price includes 100# Clay (B-Clay/B-Clay with Grog/Woodfire Porcelain/Fireclay/Reclaimed Blend), Glaze, Instruction, Access to Stone Bear Studios Open Studio, firing kilns with renowned woodfire kiln builder and potter Justin Lambert

Any unused classes are forfeit and not subject to a refund.

Classes are open to students 18+, youth classes are not offered at this time.
